Re: Kerrigan in Phila. PA

Susan, I was searching the web a couple of days ago. I decided to enter my name to see what might come up. I came across a webpage someone had submitted in regards to visiting village in County Mayo. He was looking for a farm that was in his family name. Well, he found the farm and was referred to a...

Re: Kerrigan in Phila. PA

Thanks for correcting my spelling. Is there a web site to the records that they have there. I recently received a booklet on various records availabe in Ireland. It however did not mention the place in Cobh.

Re: Kerrigan in Phila. PA

Well, that sounds like you hit the jackpot. Now we can start tracing them back to Ireland. Now that gives us more things to check out. I will try and see what comes up under those names. Also there is a place in County Cork (Cobb) where a number of the Irish left from. They supposedly have records l...

Re: Indiana kerrigans

This is what I developed from my checks. It appears that Austin Kerrigan was born in Ireland around 1829, in County Mayo. He served in Army during the Civil War either from September 1864 to August 31, 1865. He was about 5' 5" tall, with dark hair and eyes. He may have lost his eye sight in the...

Re: Kerrigan in Phila. PA

Susan, a friend gave me a paperback book titled "Basic Guide to Irish Records for Family History" by Brian Mitchell. He lists alot of information on the various records that existed and destroyed. He also provides mail address, websites and phone numbers, for the various Irish Genealogy Ce...

Re: Indiana kerrigans

I was checking my road atlas to see where Aurora, Indiana was. Well, it's on the Ohio River across from Kentucky, but also close to the Ohio border. If it was a bit closer to south suburbs of Chicago, I would have taken a ride there and see what local records their were. Also might have visited the ...

Re: Kerrigan in Phila. PA

Susan, I came across a reference to a Mary Kerrigan who was listed in a 1890 Philadelphia Directory. She was identified as a widow and lived at 4934 Little Wayne. If that's the one we are looking for she might be about 44 years old. It's a long shot. I don't know where I came across this, but was ch...

Re: Indiana kerrigans

I decided to check on your Indian Kerrigan. I found a reference to a U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Ohio. Their is a reference to a log book entry and sort of verifies his death. I was unable to read the whole entry. It appeared that he was there recuperating from injuries. Bu...

Re: Kerrigan in Phila. PA

I was wondering if you could find out if they were married in a church. If yes they might have some better records. The churches were the original records keepers before the government collected the data. The problem is trying to figure out where Ella and her parents were hanging out, before she got...
